Cobras land on the driving range at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club

Cobras land on the driving range at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club

Coto de Caza, CA (January 13, 2010) – Armored tanks invading Orange County, Marine helicopters buzzing the greens and snipers lined-up in Ghillie suits. This is clearly not standard issue at the exclusive Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club, yet on Monday, March 8, patriotism will soar as high as the longest drive at the Cox Community Golf Tournament to benefit injured Marines.

Marking its fourth consecutive year, this extraordinary golf event has raised more than $175,000 for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (IMSFF), largely attributed to such valued sponsors as: Ketel One Vodka, Chick-fil-A Foothill Ranch, Canyon Fireside Grill, C&M Communiqué, Baja Fresh, 4 Copas Tequila, Volunteer Center Orange County, Hanna’s, Big Band Networks, Spa Gregorie’s and Jarhead Red.

Hosting a community of heroes on an unforgettable day of golf, Cox Orange County is dedicated to not only its family of loyal customers, but countless others who have proudly served our country. The company’s charitable foundation, Cox Cares, is recruiting additional sponsors and golfers to help our nation’s injured and critically ill Marines and their families cope with the financial hardship they face on the road to recovery.

Sponsorship packages range from $500 to $20,000, each offering a variety of publicity benefits based on the level of financial commitment, including: logo placement during the tournament commercial broadcast viewed by more than 300,000 Cox subscribers ($50,000 value); logo recognition on the website and printed materials; inclusion in mentions to the media; acknowledgement on the Cox e-newsletter delivered to 40,000 households ($2,000 value); identification on Cox bill messaging to more than 300,000 households ($5,000 value); logo placement on tee signs and much more.

Honoring today’s true heroes, while giving supporters the chance to test their golf skills, this event will exude a distinct armed services theme.  Golfers on each of two Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship courses develop a first-hand appreciation for the U.S. Marines and their service through hands-on demonstrations and boot camp-style activities on the course.

To make a significant difference in the life of an injured Marine and his or her family, golfers can register online for $300, foursomes for $1,200, and dinner guests for $100. Proving that giving back can be convenient, cost-effective and rewarding, Cox Orange County is also offering the community an opportunity to help these wounded heroes by purchasing a golf ball for a chance to win $2,000 in the helicopter ball drop. A single ball costs just $10, yet volume discounts are available online for those wishing to better their odds.
